United for a Cure

Women of Hearts is a burgeoning art collaboration effort by Jen Dallas, interior designer and product and textile designer, and Bettina Hubby, artist and producer of events. Their first collaboration will be raising money towards the cure for breast cancer, affecting both women and men worldwide. No decision to help is ever too small. It all starts at home with our own story to tell, sharing what moves us and identifying what we feel the strongest connection to change.

Dallas’ studio, Maple Jude & Co, has a line of textiles and products, a lifestyle shop for the home. Dallas is proud to announce the first of many Women of Hearts artist collaborations, connecting like-minded individuals to work together to inspire others and help raise money to directly affect people’s lives for the better. She believes that taking action is something we all have the responsibility to do. Dallas supported her mother’s survival of a breast cancer diagnosis twice. She remembers trying to get her mom to laugh during her cancer treatments. “Laughter is a powerful medicine and it brings people together, which can be beneficial for healing,” shares Dallas.

Hubby, herself a breast cancer survivor, wants to share how she navigated her diagnosis with smiles to soften the journey. She did not want pity. She wanted laughter, so she asked her community to send boobs! Images, poems, songs, and artworks flooded in, resulting in a large exhibition in Los Angeles to benefit cancer research. The resulting array of mammary-inspired works was boggling, delightful, at times eerie, but above all, it was powerful. Hubby authored a book of her experience, Thanks for the Mammaries.

These women each come to the project with different stories, but similar outlooks, as to how to approach a cancer diagnosis. Now they want to give back. They choose to use this bond and their “breast intentions” to improve the lives of people touched by cancer.

To launch the collaboration, Hubby and Dallas created a line of Women of Hearts makeup bags printed with four playful, boob-centric patterns of their own designs. The patterns are fresh and whimsical with an uplifting vibe. They wanted to share these smile-inducing designs as a positive force to face this life-altering subject. They’ll flash you with more titillating products in the near future!

Proceeds from Women of Hearts makeup bag sales go to finding a cure.
