Statement
My art has evolved, as I have, towards metaphysical, mystical, and spiritual tenets. I have an indefatigable curiosity and explore a myriad of topics through art with curiosity and humor in tow, including: devotion to spiritual hygiene through 21 days of Blissipline at Agape, the power of words through Positively Earnest, an artFULL investigation of marriage through Get Hubbied, dating through scent (Love Potion No. 9), and Breast Cancer’s artful side through Thanks for The Mammaries. I find joy in collaborating, creating thoughtful experiences, bringing people together, and in seeking out unique locations to interact, such as a construction site (Dig the Dig), an erotic museum (The Sexual Bronze Show), a 3-month storefront (the Eagle Rock Rock and Eagle Shop), online curation (CURATORIAL HUB), my own backyard (Dr. Ben Hubby’s Christmas Party), a giant rock (Googly Eyes at Giant Rock), a wall over a highway (ABRACADABRA), and my alternate reality of the White House Lawn. Currently I am focused on a whole-hearted collaboration with my family called (INWORDOUT), as well as an artobiography, and a new series of sound and laughter paintings,
My art journey has closely mirrored my ongoing personal metamorphosis. Literally, my art medium and inner world shifted from black tar to color, as I unearthed and integrated the shadows from the inside out. Looking back on my many selves, I see the ‘wisdom born of pain’ phases (quoting Helen Reddy’s I am Woman) and the visions born of inspiration phases, interlinked and vital. As my spiritual teacher Rev. Michael B. Beckwith states, “The pain pushes, until the vision pulls.” I am devoted to being a cheer-leader, harnessing aesthetic magic for change.
